A few years ago we were approached by a group of entrepreneurs, who had a brilliant idea of changing the landscape of wealth creation.
They wanted to build an online investing platform, which would be inexpensive, available to every individual, regardless of how wealthy she is, transparent and easy-to-use.
We:
- Came up with the project implementation plan from hand-drawn wireframes to a detailed specification in Confluence, accompanied with sprint plans in JIRA;
- Picked a cutting-edge, yet mature toolset – HTML5 Javascript SPA for front-end, Java 8, PostgreSQL and Mongo for backend;
- Quickly assembled a team for the project – out of guys who know electronic trading.
It’s been a winding road with changing requirements, as fundraising for the platform made its way, thus the approach with shorter iterations and demoable deliverables proved itself worthy.
One of the bigger challenges is, of course, changing regulation, which affects the way investment services are offered all around the world – Dodd-Frank and MiFID II. We quickly adopted the infrastructure and order execution logic to cater to those.
12 months after the first meeting with the customer, the fully-fledged online automated investment platform was launched with proprietary client-facing frontend and custom-built portfolio management system. The platform supports STP (straight through processing) of trades, which are sent daily for NAV-traded funds using ISO 20022 formatted messages.
Platform is well-recognized by financial industry and general public, and received plenty of press coverage, and won numerous awards.
After another 12 months, the Pritle platform caters to thousands of investors, supports 4 languages and is live in 4 countries.
